motorherp - thanks for the tutorials
In case motorherp still lurks around here, just wanted to thank you for the tutorials you wrote years ago. They are extremely well written and the concepts are still very much valid. I'm working on my first shmup, and I have learned a lot from them. So thank you!
Re: motorherp - thanks for the tutorials
They're in the archive of the old forum which is here: http://shmup-dev.com/forum-archive/
Take a look in the Assistance/Tutorials section.

Re: motorherp - thanks for the tutorials
Being new to the forum,
I didn't know an alternative version is available. It's so sparse here I think people like myself who are new to shump development don't stick around because there is nothing to read (well I have not found anything useful yet)
As I have finally started a shump project for learning the fundimentals i am not releasing. But better to make mistakes in my own game right.
Thanks for the new lead for shump info

Re: motorherp - thanks for the tutorials
Would it be possible (or even advisable) to import the contents of the old forums into the new? My guess is that it's not possible or not practical, or you would have done it already.
Re: motorherp - thanks for the tutorials
We looked into that when I took over management of the site, but the two forums aren't compatible - the old one was Simple Machines forum and this is a PHPBB. I chose PHPBB because it had better spambot protection which is a big deal on an old domain like this. It gets hundreds of spam-bot signup attempts every day.
