Torque 2D shmup framework

Postby monoRAIL » Sun Aug 26, 2012 1:00 pm

I've created a simple shmup framework project in Torque 2D which I often use for rapid prototyping or as a starting point for game jams.

You can download the project here. It requires Torque 2D 1.7.4 or later to use.

The framework contains the following features:
  • Keyboard and Joystick controls.
  • Configured collision callbacks for player, enemies and bullets.
  • Damaging, killing and respawning enemies.
  • SimSets (Torque's version of a linked list) to contain enemies and bullets, spawned at load time.

This framework is very efficient and can easily be scaled up to a full game.
As an example - Last Flight of the Bumble Bee was created in 48 hours, starting off with this framework.

The full source code for Bumble Bee is also available here, so you can see exactly how this framework scales up. The scripts will also work on iOS, however you'd have to add your own touch or tilt controls.
