Pretty bullet trails with Unity3D

I messed around with Unity3D's particle system, and I just couldn't manage to make a smooth looking bullet trail. The smoothest I could make it had to emit something like 500 particles a second. Doesn't sound like a particularly good idea to me. Any thoughts on the matter?

Check out the Unity trail renderer, it should give you better results.
